Rehabilitate federal finances by increasing federal taxes. — Problem
Problem
We expect more and more services from the state (AHV, infrastructure, health). At the same time, the state quota should preferably not increase.
Discussion
- Nicola Pestalozzi (2026-01-08): We should all expect less from the state, not more. Self-responsibility should become more important again; the nanny state already takes on too many tasks today and is growing faster than the economy. The federal government is already the largest employer in Switzerland! Processes need to be streamlined and automated; digitalization of all services holds enormous potential.
- ↳ Oli Christen (2026-01-08): It is true that the state quota is rising slightly faster than the economy. However, it is still one of the lowest in Western Europe. And I highly appreciate the services of the state (social systems, healthcare system, roads, trains, security) at this high level and would not want to see them reduced. A state that only takes care of the most essential matters does not seem desirable to me. The fact that the federal government is the largest employer is only true if you include federal enterprises. However, these are run privately. I would also like a more digitalized Switzerland. But it does not seem to be as simple as one could observe with the EPD and various IT projects.
